Went into the Lake District for a week while one of the kids was up looking after the pets. Although only a couple of miles away it was a good break. We stayed at Wasdale for a couple of nights and then travelled across to Keswick for three night, we used Keswick as a base to visit Windermere, Ambleside and Grassmere. All full of tourists but you can't have everything.
The picture is a view of Derwent Water from the campsite we stayed at at Keswick.

Buttermere Village camping trip
Just got back from a short camping trip Buttermere Village. Stayed at Syke Farm Campsite which has basic facility's but does give a great base for going into the hills. (Haystacks, High Crag, High Style and Red Pike, Grasmoor, Crag Hill, Wandope & Whiteless Pike, Rannerdale Crags etc. )
Two pubs are near by, the Bridge Inn which is a bit pricey and the Fish Hotel which has great beer and food and is cheaper.
The address of the camp site is Syke Farm Camping Buttermere Village, Cumbria, CA13 9XA
Here is a quick video of someone landing in the field next to the Fish Hotel after jumping of a mountain, nice.
